The Women's Outreach Society strives to assist women to meet their safety, social, and economical needs through one-on-one discussions, information sharing, and public awareness.
An Outreach Worker will assist with:
Legal information
Court preparation and court accompaniment
Referrals (i.e. mediation, RCMP, Victim Services, etc)
Social Services Appeals
Social Services Information
Custody Information
When facing a legal situation, knowing what to expect and talking about your feelings and concerns can help you make the best decisions for yourself and your children. We are here to help you explore the available options and choices specific to your situation. Working in partnership with the Domestic Violence Steering Committee, including the RCMP, the Crown Prosecutor, Legal, Aid, the Central Alberta Women's Emergency Shelter, the SPCA, the Crisis Centre, and AADAC, to insure coordination of services.
Legal Information:
A volunteer lawyer is available each month to answer legal questions. For a referral to the volunteer lawyer please call 403.347.2480.
We DO NOT give legal advice.
Public Legal Education:
Funded through the Alberta Law Foundation, Women’s Outreach provides public education to individuals, service providers, FAQ, corporations and general public in the areas of family violence, family law, landlord tenant, custody, access and maintenance, effects of domestic violence in the workplace etc. Presentations can also be tailored to specific needs.
Women’s Outreach works closely with other community agencies to provide special events during Family Violence Prevention Month.
Court Accompaniment:
The legal process can be intimidating especially if you have limited supports. An outreach worker is available to assist you through court preparation and court accompaniment. PLEASE make an appointment with an Outreach Worker several days prior to court. We also assist with AISH and/or Social Services appeals.
